Review : A Game Called Birds

A new favourite of ours, and something our family has spent hours playing over the summer months, is A Game Called Birds.

Designed in Tasmania, this strategy board game is a fabulous way to familiarise yourself with native Australian birds, and with it's Tasmanian design origins of course features all twelve Tasmanian endemic bird species.
What we love is that there are numerous difficulty levels which you can play the game at, making it an enjoyable game for the whole family (our six and nine year olds are fans, and we play at the 2nd difficulty level). Adults can increase the difficulty level which adds more complexity, and greater consequences for your strategic birdy moves!
The playing cards feature photography from some of Australia's best birdlife photographers, so its a treat to reveal which birds fly into your hands every time they are dealt. Each bird is assigned a 'Twitch' and a 'Fight' rating, and it is these scores which see you compete for a chance to progress around the playing board. Power Birds are thrown into the mix to cause chaos and shake up the game.

Our family of bird nerds rate 'A Game Called Birds' 5/5

The game comes in a sturdy but compact box, and the cards, board, player tokens and spinner are all very good quality.
