Welcoming our new Peacebird range October 14 2016

Our Peacebird range has arrived. Finely crafted by our artisan partners, we hope that each bird will find a loving and peaceful place to call home this festive season.

Peacebird Bangladesh

Each purchase from our Peacebird range not only supports producers directly through the crafting of each bird, but also through raising funds to support the work of our parent initiative The Décologist - a craft and design network established to assist small-scale, ethical crafts producers.

Starting from small, modest beginnings we hope that our Peacebirds will grow as we connect and collaborate with more producers, allowing continued engagement and impact of our parent organisation.

Songbird Collection joins Moral Fairground ethical business network September 01 2016

A thumbs-up for our commitment to ethical craft producers!

We are pleased to announce that we have recently become an accredited member of Moral Fairground. Based in Melbourne, Moral Fairground is a business network founded to support and promote fair trade, ethical and sustainable businesses throughout Victoria and around Australia.

For Songbird, this means we will join a network of like-minded businesses working towards creating new opportunities for ethical producers, and strengthening the connection of transparent value chains from grass-roots producers to the consumer.

The Flyway Print Exchange November 24 2015

20 artists from 9 countries inspired by the journeys of 8 million birds.

Flyway Print ExchangeThe Flyway Print Exchange is an international environmental art project featuring 20 artists from 9 different countries, linked by the East-Asian Australasian Flyway. The Flyway describes the 29,000km circuit flown annually by Australia’s migratory shorebirds, to and from their breeding grounds above the Arctic Circle. The artists, from New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, India, China, Japan, South Korea and the USA, have all created original prints which will be exhibited at the Melbourne Immigration Museum throughout the summer. Techniques include woodblock printing, silkscreen, digital, etching, linocutting, stencilling and more. The Flyway Print Exchange exhibition will feature two sets of prints: one pristine and framed, the other one worn and weathered, which has been posted without protection along the Flyway from New Zealand to Alaska and back to echo the birds’ journeys.

'The Flyway Print Exchange' and 'Par Avian' will be showing at the Melbourne Immigration Museum from December 1, 2015 - February 28, 2016.
